Solan, August 17

The Solan police claims to have solved the gruesome murder case of a young girl from Oachghat with the arrest of a 30-year-old Dharam Singh from Mani Majra late last evening. The girl was murdered yesterday afternoon while she was alone at home.

Mohit Chawla, SP, Solan, addressing mediapersons said the suspect had been identified as a hotel chef and he was arrested by a team led by Additional SP Manmohan Singh, from Mani Majra. Police investigations revealed that the accused was known to the victim’s mother for the past one-and-a-half-year and he frequently visited their house.

He got into an altercation with the victim over his alleged relationship with her mother and in a fit of rage he attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon lying there. He made three attempts to stab her in the arm and shoulder before finally slitting her neck. She was grievously injured and her body was lying in a pool of blood.

She made a call to her mother before being attacked, warning her of the imminent danger from the assailant. Since her mother was not in the vicinity she asked a shopkeeper to visit her home immediately.
