Mandi, June 9

The Tandi-Sansari-Kelar road connecting Chamba with Lahaul-Spiti has been closed for the next few days as there was considerable damage to the road due to flash floods at Daared, 16 km from Udaipur, in tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti.

According to official information, due to the flash flood at Daared Nullah, the 30-m-long road had been washed away on Wednesday night, which will take the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at least a week to restore the road.

According to reports, massive landslides occurred at four different places between Tandi and Kelar due to which the traffic movement has been halted. The BRO authorities are struggling hard to clear the debris.

BRO Commander AK Awasthi said due to the massive landslide on this road, the traffic movement had been halted.

“We have engaged our workforce and machinery to clear the landslide between Tandi and Udaipur. However, it will take more than a week to restore the road for traffic at Daared,” he added.
