Election awareness vehicle flagged off

SHIMLA: Chief Election Commissioner of India AK Joti flagged off an election awareness vehicle here today. The vehicle is equipped with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) being used in all 68 constituencies for the first time in the Vidhan Sabha polls.

Chief Election Commissioner of India AK Joti flagged off an election awareness vehicle here today. The vehicle is equipped with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) being used in all 68 constituencies for the first time in the Vidhan Sabha polls.

The election staff accompanying the vehicle will give on-the-spot information on how a voter can use VVPAT machines. They will get information on how to enrol new voters and importance of voting and its role in democracy. The election awareness vehicle would move in each constituency to educate voters, said an election official.

Election commissioners Om Prakash Rawat and Sunil Arora, senior deputy election commissioner Umesh Sinha and deputy election commissioners Sandeep Saxena and Sudeep Jain and state chief electoral officer Pushpender Rajpoot were also present on the occasion.
