Hamirpur, October 19

The district administration is on its toes to arrange over Rs 45 lakh for the state-level Hamir Utsav. The event could not be held last year as the model code of conduct was in place.

The function will be organised to mark the formation of the district from October 31 to November 2 this year. The task to arrange the funds had been assigned to various departments, including Excise and Taxation, Revenue, IPH, PWD, Health and Food and Civil Supplies.

With only 10 days left for the event, the administration is facing a tough time arranging funds. It is learnt that the authorities are seeking help from some corporate house, but for that too they need time.

A number of activities and programmes will be the major attractions of the three-day event. The district administration had invited tenders from interested artistes. It is yet to finalise the performers.

Deputy Commissioner Richa Verma said efforts would be made to make the event a success. She said the cultural night would focus on folk and traditional culture, adding that Bollywood actors could be roped in. “We are trying to get some corporate sponsors for the event,” she added.
