CUHP to shift 11 programmes to Dharamsala campus

The Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUPH) has decided to shift and conduct postgraduate classes in 11 different programmes which include MA English, Hindi, Sanskrit, economics, sociology, education, journalism and new media communication and MBA in tourism and travels to Dharamsala campus for 390 students.

The Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUPH) has decided to shift and conduct postgraduate classes in 11 different programmes which include MA English, Hindi, Sanskrit, economics, sociology, education, journalism and new media communication and MBA in tourism and travels to Dharamsala campus for 390 students. Nine science-related programmes for 270 students will be held at Shahpur campus from the current academic session and MA history class for 30 students will be conducted at Dehra. Meanwhile, CUHP has also decided to shift the office of the pro vice-chancellor to Dharamsala where the vice-chancellor's office is already functional.

Convocation on August 31

CUHP will hold its fifth convocation on August 31, 2018. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will be the chief guest on the occasion. Vice-Chancellor Prof KC Agnihotri said 21 students would receive PhD degrees, 365 postgraduate degrees and two would receive advance diplomas.

690 get admission

As many as 690 students have got admission at CUHP. The document verification will be conducted on August 1 and orientation programme will be held on August 2 and August 3. The university has invited applications for doctoral programmes and the last date is August 6, 2018.

New course on J&K studies

CUHP will be the first university in the country to start MA in Jammu and Kashmir studies course. Vice-Chancellor Prof KC Agnihotri said the course would be for two years and the syllabus had been prepared. He said the degree was meant for external students.

38 get jobs

Brig JC Rangra (retd), Registrar, CUHP, said 43 persons were appointed on regular basis in the university for group B and C posts. Of 43 candidates, 38 are from the state. Two candidates each are from UP and Haryana and one from Rajasthan. The Registrar said 41 of them had joined the university. The candidates were put through skill and written tests and were then selected on the basis of merit.

‘Police Science Chair’

CUHP is planning to establish 'Police Science Chair' which will work on various aspects of policing, including criminology, penology, victimology, criminal law, forensic science, human rights, social science and public safety management. Pro Vice-Chancellor Hans Raj Sharma said the university had received a request from the SP Police Training College in Daroh and the project would be funded by the state government.

Intl Yoga Day celebrated

The 4th International Yoga Day was celebrated on the campus at Shahpur. The event was organised by UBA, NSS wing, Yogdhara Club and people from local PRIs' on June 21. Prof KC Agnihotri, VC, was the chief guest on the occasion. Subedar Major Omkar Guleria (retd) was the instructor.
