Congress, BJP rebels to contest as independents

Dr Rajesh Sharma of the Congress was today denied the ticket. Now, he has decided to contest as an Independent for the Kangra segment.

Sharma said the party was discouraging educated people. He added that he would file his nomination papers on October 23.

Sharma is being seen as a threat to the Congress vote bank by poll analysts.

Uttam Chaudhary, a senior BJP leader and president of the BJP OBC Morcha, a strong contender eyeing the party ticket, spoke against BJP candidate Sanjay Chaudhary today.

Uttam Chaudhary said the party had been exploiting them and he had decided to fight against the BJP candidate. He added that he would file his nomination papers from Kangra tomorrow.

Two days before the official announcement of the BJP candidates was made, Uttam Chaudhary burst crackers at his residence as he was confident of getting the ticket.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Pawan Kajal and BJP’s Sanjay Chaudhary will file their nomination papers on October 23.

Sixty-four-year-old Col Kuldeep Singh (retd), a resident of old Matour, filed his papers before returning officer, Kangra, Dharmesh Kumar Ramotra. Col Kuldeep Singh has been fielded by the Lok Gathbandhan Party.
