New Delhi, October 22

The Congress on Sunday finally announced the name of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s son Vikramaditya Singh, as a candidate from Shimla-Rural in the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.

Vikramaditya resigned as HP Youth Congress chief following his nomination as party candidate from Shimla-Rural.

The party also named senior Congress leader Kaul Singh Thakur’s daughter Champa Thakur as nominee from Mandi, in the third list issued an hour after the second list which was issued earlier today.

Earlier, the Congress declared candidates for seven more constituencies. With this they have now announced candidates for all the 68 assembly seats.

Kewal Sharma will contest from Shahpur, Ashish Butel from Palampur, Hari Chand Sharma from Manali, Sundar Thakur from Kullu, Vivek Sharma from Kotlehar, Lakhwinder Rana from Nalagarh, and Deepak Rathore from Theog.

The Congress has replaced Bansi Lal, who was named in the first list, in Anni (SC) seat with Paras Ram.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi had kept Shimla Rural and Mandi seats pending as a decision had to be taken on one family, one ticket policy which the party followed in Punjab.

The Congress had announced its first list of 59 candidates on October 18.

The single-phase election for the 68 Assembly seats will be held on November 9. Votes will be counted on December 18.
