Shimla, April 22

With an eye on the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress will prepare a data bank of a dedicated brigade of 500 party workers in each of the 68 Assembly segments.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Executive of the HPCC held here today. The meeting was chaired by Congress president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and attended by senior party functionaries. The leaders discussed the strategy to gear up party workers to ensure victory of the candidates in the parliamentary elections.

“The data bank will be available at the state, district and block level. The active party workers will move door to door to ensure that people are informed about the failures of the Modi regime,” said Sukhu.

A decision was also taken at the meeting to hold pad yatra on May 7 in all blocks against the price rise. “The prices of petrol and diesel are at an all-time high and the Modi regime has failed to check this, burdening the common man,” said Sukhu.

He added that the prices of LPG cylinder and all other household items, including food, had spiralled.

Sukhu also said 2,500 party workers will take part in the rally, scheduled to be held at Ram Lila Maidan in New Delhi on April 29. Sukhu lambasted the Modi regime for its failure to take concrete steps to check crime against women and girls, who were being raped and harassed. — TNS
