The meeting of the CEC, earlier expected today, was delayed in the wake of marathon meetings the Congress screening committee held to forge consensus on certain key seats. It is learnt that agreements for single names have been reached on 56 of 68 Assembly segments.

Meanwhile, the BJP could not announce names of candidates yet again today. It has okayed names of 50 candidates and sent authorisation letters for filing nominations, but not made the names public so far. — TNS
