Shimla, October 17

Gearing up for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Himachal Congress has decided to organise conventions of active workers and office-bearers of all four parliamentary constituencies to get the feedback from the field.

The one-day convention of Shimla parliamentary constituency will be held here on October 25 in which district Congress presidents, general secretaries, block Congress presidents and secretaries and grass root level activists would participate.

The convention to be presided over by HPCC chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will deliberate on issues to be raised during the elections, prospective candidates for Lok Sabha elections and accelerating the registration of workers under Shakti map. The party MLAs and senior party leaders will also attend the convention.

The meeting would assess the winning prospects of candidates suggested by the workers. A detailed report would be sent by HPCC chief to AICC president Rahul Gandhi, party incharge Rajni Patil and co-incharge Gurkeerat Singh Kotli.

A broad strategy would be chalked out to reach out to people and expose the anti-people policies, failures and unfulfilled promises of the Modi government at the Centre and the Jai Ram government in the state.

A list of issues would be prepared for launching the offensive, Sukhu said.

The party would remind the people of the promises like hike in import duty on apple and setting up of tomato based industries in Solan.

They will also be apprised of spurt in crime in the state apart from other unfilled promises made by BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
