CM takes part in procession at Renukaji

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today presided over the closing ceremony of the six-day International Sri Renukaji Fair in Sirmaur district.

He paid obeisance at the historic Lord Parshuram and Goddess Renukaji temples and participated in a procession in which the palanquin of Lord Parshuram was carried. The fair marks the divine meeting of Goddess Renukaji with her son Lord Parshuram and is attended by thousands of devotees.

Addressing a gathering, Thakur said the government was about to complete two years in office and during this period, the state had witnessed unprecedented development. He said efforts had been made to ensure balanced development. He also elaborated on various developmental initiatives of his government. He said the Global Investors Meet organised by the government had received an overwhelming response and the Prime Minister had urged entrepreneurs to invest in the state.

The Chief Minister also visited an exhibition in the fair put up by various departments and gave prizes to participants and winners. The District Rural Development Authority received the first prize while the second prize was bagged by the Education Department.

Earlier, Thakur inaugurated a new irrigation and public health subdivision at Dadahu which will benefit around 50,000 people of 23 panchayats and will have four sections: Dadahu, Renukaji, Parada and Giri Nagar. He also inaugurated a water supply scheme to Sirguldhar which will cover 46 habitats.
