Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has a narrow vision for the development of the state and needs to widen his approach. This was stated by Kuldeep Rathore, president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, while addressing a gathering at a rally organised by the party at Gandhi Chowk here today.

The party is holding protest rallies against the price rise and slowdown in economy. A procession started from Bhota Chowk and passed through the main market and ended at Gandhi Chowk in which Congress leaders raised slogans against the BJP-led state and Centre. The HPCC president alleged that the prices of essential commodities had gone up. Many industrial units had closed down and thousands of the local youths had lost jobs.

Mukesh Agnihotri, leader of the Opposition, said the government had failed to implement various infrastructure projects announced before the parliamentary poll. He said the government had increased the prices of fuel and LPG. He said the CM had brought the development projects to his home constituency Seraj.

Agnihotri said the Congress welcomed investment but would not tolerate misuse of the state exchequer. He said the state was reeling under debt of over Rs 60,000 crore and spent over Rs 10 crore on tents for the investor meet at Dharamsala. It was surprising that a woman was paid Rs 10 lakh to give a cap to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
