CM announces degree college for Kandaghat

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced a government degree college for Kandaghat. He said it would be functional from the next academic session.

The college will be housed in the old office of DC Kohistan and its construction will start soon.

He made the announcement while addressing a public gathering at Kandaghat during his one-day visit to the district today. He also announced to upgrade Dharo ki Dhar and Shamror high schools to the Class XII level.

He extended Rs 20 lakh for the completion of the building of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS) at Kandaghat and a multi-purpose hall at Shiv Mandir Complex there.

He said the state government was giving priority to construction of roads in rural areas to ensure speedy development.

The CM gave figurative details of development works undertaken in the fields of health, education, drinking water, irrigation facilities, construction of roads and electrification in the state.

He said farmers of Solan district had taken a lead in the cultivation of off-season vegetables and floriculture and this had strengthened their economy.

He announced a slew of development projects worth over Rs 45 crore. The CM laid the foundation stone of a 50-bed hospital at Kandaghat to be completed with an outlay of Rs 16.68 crore and a multi-purpose ground costing Rs 3.33 crore.

He laid the foundation stone for metalling/tarring work of Kahlog-Basha, Kandaghat-Chhusha-via Kwarag, Kyari-Bangla-Malga roads on which Rs 16.64 crore will be spent. He also laid the foundation stone of a bridge worth Rs 4.23 crore to be constructed over the Ashwani Khud.

Earlier, he inaugurated the 33/11 KV sub-station at Oachghat constructed with a cost of Rs 3.74 crore. The station will help augment power availability in Solan and Sirmaur districts. He also inspected the site of Terrace Garden in Horticulture University, Nauni.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dhani Ram Shandil and other political leaders were also present.
