Centre-run youth hostel in Dalhousie without manager

The youth hostel in Dalhousie, which is run by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, has been functioning without a manager. The place provides accommodation at affordable prices to travellers.

The youth hostel, which was in a bad shape, was repaired in 2002. It was later ranked number one by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Youngsters from 22 states of the country and 25 countries use the facility. Treks and nature study camps are organised by the hostel management. But for the past over a year, the hostel has been without a manager. Adventure enthusiasts are appealing to the government to take immediate steps to ensure that a manager and a warden are posted here.

Following an advertisement, eight persons applied for the position and are waiting for an interview call. The Chamba administration will have to select suitable persons and seek the approval of the Government of India. In order to fill the vacancy at the youth hostel, Dalhousie, the Assistant Commissioner of Chamba had advertised the post on August 7 this year.
