CCTV footages scanned in principal murder case

The Nalagarh police are yet to crack the murder case of principal of Shiwalik Science Senior Secondary School, Kharuni, Bhagat Ram Saini and the alleged assault on his wife and son.

DIG Asif Jalal said the the principal’s body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem examination on Tuesday.

The police are yet to record the statement of Saini’s wife, the only eyewitness in the case, as she is recuperating at the PGI, Chandigarh. She sustained a head injury and was operated upon.

The police are scanning CCTV footages from the area in order to identify the vehicle used by four assailants. Sources said issues such as low visibility owing to rain and poor quality of CCTVs was creating hurdles in gathering clues. The faces of the assailants were also covered, they added.

The police are also ascertaining how much cash and valuables had been looted from the house and whether the sole objective was to decamp with the booty or to murder Saini.

A team of forensic science experts lifted key evidences from the spot till late in the evening on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, migrant labourer Dina Nath, was allegedly killed by one Shiva at Akawali village in the Baddi industrial area on Tuesday evening. — TNS
