CBI has made Kotkhai case complex: CM

SHIMLA: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said the CBI had failed to solve the rape and murder case of a Kotkhai girl and all arrests made so far were in connection with the custodial death of one of the accused in the case.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said the CBI had failed to solve the rape and murder case of a Kotkhai girl and all arrests made so far were in connection with the custodial death of one of the accused in the case.

Talking to mediapersons here today, Virbhadra said the CBI had not only failed to solve the case, but also made it far more complicated and complex. “The CBI seems to have changed the direction of the rape and murder case into a custodial death as all arrests have been made in this connection only,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, the CBI today took arrested Superintendent of Police (SP) DW Negi to Delhi for further questioning in the rape and murder of the 16-year-old Kotkhai girl.

Negi, who was arrested yesterday, was sent to five-day judicial remand. He would be produced before the court on November 20.

Negi, who was part of the Special Investigation Team constituted to probe the rape and murder case, was the SP, Shimla, and was closely associated with the case. Eight other police officials, including Inspector General of Police Zahur Zaidi and Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Joshi had already been arrested in the custodial death of accused Suraj.
