Kangra, January 11

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Friday launched Fiber to Home (FTTH) in Kangra and Chamba districts for the first time in the state, which will be a boon for high-speed broadband consumers.

Pardeep Singh, General Manager, BSNL, Dharamsala, said this while addressing mediapersons at the local telephone exchange after he launched the Fiber to Home service. He said for making it successful and to provide good service to the consumers, the project had been outsourced to private operators.

He said the traditional communication system was being carried through copper wires, which had its shortcomings and had a maximum speed of 20 MB. He said that breaking of the copper wire and steeling of copper wires was a hindrance in providing an uninterrupted broadband and telephone service through traditional system and now, the Fiber to Home service would be the most viable alternative to the traditional system.

He said the FTTH system would provide speed of 1,000 MB with high quality voice call facility. He said the FTTH system was not affected by dust and water. He said the optical fiber would now, reach the homes of the consumers..— OC
