Dharamsala, November 29

The BJP would launch an “oust-Virbhadra Singh campaign” from December 2 with the organization of a massive rally at Dharamsala, said former minister and senior leader of BJP Kishan Kapoor while addressing a press conference here today.

Kapoor said that it was unprecedented for Himachal that a sitting Chief Minister was facing CBI and ED cases. Instead of resigning on moral grounds, the Chief Minister was alleging that he was being victimized by the union government. Therefore, the BJP would launch “oust-Virbhadra Singh campaign” in the state, Kapoor said.

He said that almost all the ministers of the present Congress government were indulging in corruption and the BJP would expose them.

Kapoor said the present government was taking credit for inclusion of Dharamsala in the list of Smart Cities. However, the fact was that Dharamsala was included in Smart City list due to the work carried out by the previous BJP government.

During the stint of the previous BJP government Dharamsala got first price in cleanliness. However, now the town has turned dirty and cleanliness was not being maintained. The prestigious Dal Lake of Dharamsala is also in poor state. The synthetic athletics track developed during the BJP stint was not being maintained, Kapoor alleged.

“We have been hearing announcements regarding the establishment of ropeways in Dharamsala. However, yesterday the vice-chairman of tourism development board Vijay Singh Mankotia has clearly stated that no investor was coming ahead for establishing ropeways in Himachal. It means that some ministers were just trying to mislead people over the issue,” he further alleged.

He also said the Minister for Urban Development had promised to the people of Dharamsala that Central University Himachal Pradesh campus would be established here. However, about three years have passed but no development has taken place over the issue, Kapoor alleged.

Kapoor alleged that instead of taking care of the development of Dharamsala he was busy in organizing Paragliding World Cup in Baijnath constituency. “We are receiving information regarding misuse of public funds in the world cup and it would be brought to public notice very soon,” he said.

Kapoor also alleged that the ninth Finance Commission had finished the special category status for Himachal. However, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has restored it.
