BJP repeats 4 candidates, one fresh face in Una dist

As the BJP high command released the list of party candidates for the Assembly elections today, it laid to rest the prolonged anxious moments for the probables on all the the five seats. The party cadre and the workers too had been waiting for the finalisation of the list, which has one new face in Rajesh Thakur from Gagret, while the other four candidates were those who had contested the 2012 Assembly elections.

In Una segment, sitting MLA and party state president Satpal Singh Satti will contest his fourth Assembly elections in a row, having won all the previous three. He had won the last elections with a margin of 4,346 votes, defeating the Congress candidate. Kutlehar party contestant Virender Kanwar too is a three-time MLA and will contest for the fourth time, having won the last elections by 1,692 votes.

For Chintpurni segment, which is reserved for SC candidate, the BJP has again fielded Balbir Singh, who had remained MLA from 2007 to 2012, but had lost the last elections by a slender margin of 438 votes. The party candidature of Ram Kumar from Haroli has been retained for the second time. He had lost the last elections by a margin of 5,172 votes.

Expecting to woo the sizeable chunk of Rajput voters in Gagret, the BJP has fielded a new face in Rajesh Thakur. A resident of Deoli village in Gagret segment, 55-year-old Thakur is a graduate in humanities and a businessman by profession.
