Himachal Pradesh University has mop-up round counselling on September 11 to fill vacant seats. “Only those students, who have already applied online, will be eligible for counselling and no student will be allowed to change the college,” said Dean, Studies, Prof Arvind Kalia. The counselling for all categories in medical and non-medical streams will be held on September 11 and 12, while counselling for arts and commerce will be held on September 13 and 14.   

Business quiz at Sanawar

The Lawrence School, Sanawar, hosted the 15th Inter-School Kirloskar Business Quiz. Around 16 schools from across the country participated in the event. The quiz comprised five mind boggling and brain teasing rounds, including launch pad, just listed, incredible India, fast and curious and closing bell. The Lawrence School, Sanawar, lifted the trophy by humbling Vivek High School, Chandigarh, to the second position by a comfortable lead (90-55 points). The winning team comprised Rivaan Singh Khara, Arindham Bhatia and Achintya Sood. Vivek High School, Chandigarh, and Spring Dale Senior School, Amritsar, were first and second runners-up, respectively.  The Lawrence School, Sanawar, also topped the screening round. Gautam Bose was the quiz master. Apart from being an internationally renowned quiz master, he is an occasional columnist, an internationally certified NLP expert and a public speaker.  He is also known for the innovative content, his unique style of audience engagement, his ready wit and his connect with the students.

Workshop on drug abuse

Gunjan, an NGO, organised a seminar-cum-workshop on “Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse” at Noorpur Public Senior Secondary School here. Resource person Jyoti and her team interacted with the students and educated them about the ill-effects of alcoholism and drug abuse. A short film ‘Suee’ on the life of drug addicts was also shown to them. Gunjan is an organisation designated as the Regional Resource and Training Centre, North Zone, by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Arvind Dogra, director of the school, thanked the resource person.

Career counseling at DAV-Parwanoo

Career counselling for Class X was organised at DAV Public Senior Secondary School, Parwanoo. A motivational video to evince the interest of the students was also played. Counsellors told the students about different streams they could opt for. The students put forth their queries,  which were addressed. The session was highly informative.
