Beauty pageant to be main attraction of Winter Carnival

Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur said today that cultural and sports activities would be organised during the Winter Carnival in Manali town to entertain tourists. A beauty pageant would be the main attraction of the event in which the Manali Winter Queen would be selected. “Besides the competition for Voice of Carnival, local culture and dance items will be presented,” he added. The five-day event would kick-start on January 2 and end on January 6. The minister convened a meeting with the local administration at Manali and directed the officers concerned to ensure the event is successful.

He said that the event was being organised for the promotion of tourism in Kullu and Manali. During the carnival, the messages of cleanliness, road safety and shun plastic waste would be spread among masses.

The minister said that efforts would be made to ensure the active participation of village women.
