With rapid melting of glaciers in the Himalaya region, water level of Beas has increased manifold, prompting the dam authorities of Larji and Pandoh dams to open its floodgates to release additional water.

The dam authorities have raised an alert for the residents and the tourists visiting in the region to avoid venturing into the vicinity of the Beas during the next few days as going near the river may endanger their lives.

The dam authorities have informed the district administration that the water level of the dam has risen up to the danger mark and the flood gates could be opened. So tourists and common people have been advised to take precautions in view of their security.

Significantly, during summers the rush of tourists remains high on the Mandi-Kullu national highway, and the tourists park their vehicles on the road side and go near the gushing river waters for fun.Deputy Commissioner Mandi Rugved Thakur has urged the people to avoid venturing near the Beas in the coming days to avoid any untoward incident.
