Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today demanded immediate ban on election campaigning of Congress president Rahul Gandhi. In a statement issued here, he accused Rahul Gandhi of violating the Model Code of Conduct by referring to Prime Minister as “chowkidar chor hai”.

He said the BJP submitted memorandums to the Chief Election Commissioner through all Deputy Commissioners of the state, condemning the statements of Rahul Gandhi. Thakur said Rahul himself has been accused of scams and is on bail and stated that calling the PM as thief is an insult to 130 crore people of India.

He claimed that Rahul made a reckless effort to misuse the name of the Supreme Court. However, on the BJP’s contempt petition, the Supreme Court has made it clear that the court has not made any comment against the PM. The Supreme Court has issued notice of contempt of the court to the Congress President.

He said Rahul, his mother and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, brother-in-law Robert Vadra and several other national level Congress leaders are on bail. Such tainted politicians have no moral right to call the Prime Minister a thief.

Mandi: The CM urged voters of Darang Assembly segment in Mandi district to support BJP candidate Ramswaroop Sharma in the Lok Sabha elections on May 19. He addressed a public meeting at Shibabdar, where around 35 Congress families joined the BJP in the presence of the CM.
