Shimla, August 16
Governor Acharya Devvrat said today that the Horticulture Research and Extension Centre, Mashobra, could be developed as main platform for zero budget natural farming.
He said there was a need to completely abandon chemical fertilisers and promote natural farming to enhance soil fertility and production of healthy food products. He asked scientists to work in this direction and set an example for others.
He expressed this view after he visited the exhibition garden of the centre and interacted with scientists regarding development of different varieties of apples. He also visited the laboratory and inquired about the research work and varieties of flowers being produced by the centre.
The Governor was impressed with the research work being carried out by the scientists of the centre on cultivation of apple and floriculture.
“Orchardists of the area are dependent on this centre and scientists should provide them detailed information about zero budget natural farming so that desired results could be achieved,” he said.
Dr.Sushma Bhardwaj, director of the centre, gave him detailed information about the activities of the centre.
