Army-ITBP joint expedition flagged off from Pooh

CHANDIGARH: A trekking and cycling expedition being organised jointly by the Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Forces (ITBP) was flagged off by the Commander, 136 Independent Brigade from Pooh in Kinnaur district today.

A trekking and cycling expedition being organised jointly by the Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Forces (ITBP) was flagged off by the Commander, 136 Independent Brigade from Pooh in Kinnaur district today.

The aim of the expedition is to enhance cohesiveness and to foster inter-service cooperation between the Army and the ITBP. The team includes three officers, two junior commissioned officers and 12 other ranks from 16 Punjab of the Army and 2nd Battalion of the ITBP.

The first phase of the expedition will involve a four-day trek from Batal to Baralacha La along the terrain of Lahaul and Spiti Valley and the second phase will involve cycling from Baralacha to Babeli in Kullu Valley.

The team will spread awareness on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in far-flung areas and set up medical camps at Jispa and Sissu. — TNS
