Shimla, November 24
The Congress today set aside the appointment of 12 leaders made on the significant posts in the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) during the elections on the plea that it did not have the sanction of the AICC.
All these appointments had been made while the campaigning for the elections was at its peak. The appointments were primarily made to placate the disgruntled Congress leaders so that they worked in favour of Congress nominees and did not damage the party.
Those who stand to get adversely affected by today’s orders include former MLA from Pragpur Yog Raj, who had been appointed as general secretary in the HPCC. Similarly former Congress minister from Kullu district Satya Prakash Thakur had also been given the post of HPCC general secretary so that he campaigned in favour of the Congress nominee from Kullu.
The third general secretary, who too had been a beneficiary, was Surender Pal Thakur, former MLA, whose appointment too has been cancelled.
Other Congress leaders, who have lost the posts include Devender Bushairi and Puhpraj Sharma (spokespersons, HPCC), Dhirendra Singh Chauhan (secretary, HPCC), Chander Sen (vice-president, Kullu District Congress Committee), Man Chand Thakur (general secretary, DCC Kullu), Rajendra Mohan (president, BCC, Mandi) and Damodar Singh (president, Nachan, BCC).
Besides this, the HPCC has expelled a number of leaders for indulging in anti-party activities and working against the party candidate.
