The students of the Central University Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) at Dehra campus today boycotted the classes. Protesting, they raised slogans against the government and the university authorities alleging inadequate facilities on the campus which started functioning from this session.

The students affiliated with the ABVP led the protest and raised slogans. The students demanded facilities on the campus which was being run from a private building.

The students alleged that before the Lok Sabha elections the foundation stone of the university campus was laid in a hurried manner. Not even a single brick has been placed in the campus since then.

The students said that there was no canteen facility. Even the library was not well equipped. They demanded that the posts of library staff, other teaching and non teaching staff be filled on priority so that the classes are run properly.

They also demanded that the staff should be appointed to keep the campus clean.

They alleged that they had apprised the university authorities time and again of the issues but failed to get any response. This forced them to stage a protest. They alleged that there was no hostel facility and students have to pay through their nose for private accommodation.

ABVP organizing secretary Arun Verma demanded facilities and filling of all the vacant posts so that the students do not suffer. The protesting students threatened that if the facilities were not created by the next month they will be forced to boycott the classes and resort to strike.
