The Baijnath Administration on Monday rescued all the 76 children who were trapped in Chhota Bhangal. These children had gone on a tracking expedition and were stranded near Multhan because of heavy rain and landslides on the road.

SDM Baijnath Vikas Shukla said as soon as the report of children trapped in Chhota Bhangal was received his team immediately swung into action and shifted these children to a safer place. These children had come in three buses from a private academy at Hamirpur. He said with the help of the Mandi administration these buses were taken to Baijnath and later they were sent to Hamirpur.

Shukla said Uhal river was flowing above the danger mark at Multhan in Chhota Bhangal and flood water could enter the local market any moment if heavy rain continued. He said he was in touch with revenue authorities at Multhan. Police and Home Guard sleuths had been kept on alert to deal with any situation. The residents of the area had been advised to shift to safer places if flood water did not recede till this evening.

He said a hydel power house at Sehal, 10 km from Baijnath, suffered heavy damage when flood water of Binwa river damaged its retaining walls. However, the equipment of the power house was safe.
