18 taken ill after drinking water mixed with cannabis

Kangra, June 23

At least 18 persons were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Dehra, after they reportedly consumed water mixed with cannabis at a water distribution centre set up on the occasion of ‘nirjala ekadashi’ at Dehra market on Saturday.

Yogesh Dutt Joshi, officiating Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Dehra, said a water distribution centre was set up in the main market by the locals.

The organisers allegedly mixed cannabis in the water, which was distributed among themselves and others, leaving 18 persons unconscious.

The SDPO said all the 18 affected persons were rushed to the Civil Hospital for immediate medical aid.

Dr Gurmeet Singh, senior medical officer, Civil Hospital, Dehra, said some of the affected persons were vomiting and the rest were unconscious. — OC
