16 swine flu deaths this year, says minister

SHIMLA:As many as 16 persons died of swine flu this year while 105 of the 321 suspected cases tested positive, Health and Family Welfare Minister Vipin Singh Parmar informed the Assembly.

As many as 16 persons died of swine flu this year while 105 of the 321 suspected cases tested positive, Health and Family Welfare Minister Vipin Singh Parmar informed the Assembly.

The patients found positive for the flu, including 33 in Shimla, 32 in Kangra, 11 in Bilaspur, eight in Mandi, six in Solan, five each in Hamirpur and Chamba, two in Una and one each in Kullu and Sirmaur districts, he said. 

The minister said most vulnerable groups were very young children, elderly people, pregnant women and people with pre-existing diseases where immunity was very low. The situation was reviewed on a daily basis and information was shared with the Centre, he said. — TNS
