11 differently abled crack UGC-NET

SHIMLA: As many as 11 disabled students of Himachal Pradesh University, including five visually impaired, have become eligible for the post of Assistant Professor as they have qualified the UGC- NET.

As many as 11 disabled students of Himachal Pradesh University, including five visually impaired, have become eligible for the post of Assistant Professor as they have qualified the UGC- NET. The two out of them have cleared JRF, while visually impaired girl Roma Negi from Rampur, studying at Punjab University, has also qualified NET.

Sikander Kumar Vice-Chancellor of the university, has congratulated them saying that these students have made the university and the state proud. “We are committed to providing them with all facilities”, he added.

A member of the HP State Advisory Board on Disability and Executive Council of HP University, Ajai Srivastava, said Saveena Jahan (Hindi) and Pankaj Sharma (tourism administration), both physically disabled, have qualified the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

Visually impaired Indu Kumari (political science) cracked the NET in her first attempt.

He said that five visually impaired students — Anuj Kumar (economics), Ajai Kumar (history), Vinod Sharma, Jasbir Lubana and Indu Kumari (all political science) have cleared NET. The physically disabled students who cracked NET included Vinod Sharma Yogacharya (yoga), Satish Thakur and Raj Kumar (political science), Priyanka Thakur (law), he added.
