The district administration today announced to undertake “Mera Una-Swachh Una” campaign from September 11 to October 2 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar said the objective of the campaign was to create public awareness on cleanliness so as to bring a qualitative improvement in their lives. Awareness regarding the ban on polythene and proper disposal of solid and wet waste would also be a part of the campaign. The DC said various departments had been assigned different roles and responsibilities, adding that the Health Department would educate the people about the spread of diseases due to poor sanitation and improper disposal of sanitary napkins. The IPH Department would collect drinking water samples from sources across the district. — OC
