The J&K High Court has directed the Legal Services Authority and the J&K Police to implement an action plan to ensure linkage between police stations and officials of the authority to help victims of sexual exploitation.
The directions were issued on Wednesday by a division bench of the High Court which had taken suo motu cognisance of the incident involving the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl on May 8 by a local youth in Bandipora district.
“The Senior Additional Advocate General had sought permission to place on record an action plan as directed in the order dated May 17, 2019, to ensure linkage between police stations and officials of the authority,” the high court said in its order while taking the action plan “on record”.
“The same shall be implemented forthwith by the authority and the police. An action taken report shall be placed before us by both the DGP as well as the authority,” it said, adding that all steps which were required to be taken forthwith to operationalise the action plan shall be taken expeditiously.
