Youth, mother get 10-year jail in minor’s rape case

PANIPAT: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Harbir Singh Dahiya on Friday sentenced a youth and his mother to 10-year imprisonment in connection with a case of brutal rape and burning the private parts of an 11-year-old girl in Samalkha in March 2017.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Harbir Singh Dahiya on Friday sentenced a youth and his mother to 10-year imprisonment in connection with a case of brutal rape and burning the private parts of an 11-year-old girl in Samalkha in March 2017.

The court has also imposed Rs 11,000 fine on Sunil and Rs 10,000 fine on his mother Kamla.

Besides, the court ordered to give Rs 7 lakh compensation to the victim.

According to the case details, the matter was reported on March 20, 2017. The Samalkha police had found the girl and had informed the child welfare committee. After medical examination, the girl was sent to the orphanage at Sondhapur village on Jatal road.

A caretaker of the orphanage informed that she had injuries on her private parts following which it came to light that the girl was sexually abused.

During investigation, it was revealed that the minor’s parents had left the girl at a home in Samalkha. The house owner, Sunil, had raped the minor girl. To wipe out the evidence, Kamla burnt the girl’s private parts.

The police arrested Sunil and Kamla. The then Superintendent of Police also suspended a woman ASI for negligence in performing her duty. The victim was treated at Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women at Khanpur Kalan.
