Youth beaten to death in F’bad restaurant

The police have registered a case against six persons in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old youth at a restaurant here on Tuesday night. No arrest has been made so far.

Hitesh Bhatia of the NH-2 locality of the NIT was allegedly assaulted by at least six persons, including the owner of the restaurant, after a dispute between him and a waiter around 10 pm. He was kicked and hit with a baseball bat and kitchen counter. He fell unconscious and died before he could be taken to hospital.

Hitesh came to the restaurant opposite the ESI Hospital here to attend the birthday celebration of a son of his cousin.

A scuffle broke out between Hitesh and a waiter over some issue. Several persons, including Sachin, owner of the restaurant, assembled on the spot. At least six persons who assembled in support of the owner thrashed Hitesh, which led to his death. The police registered a case of murder against Sachin and several unidentified persons. — TNS
