Rohtak, February 11

The Congress has hit out at Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for his statement during Sunday’s rally in Kalanaur that he had asked people to teach a befitting lesson to those behind the arson during the Jat agitation for reservation in February 2016.

In a statement issued here today, Congress leader Shadi Lal Batra asked the CM the reason for not taking action against persons responsible for arson and violence. “It is the responsibility of the CM to take action against arsonists. By asking people to punish them, Khattar is trying to push the state towards anarchy yet again,” he said.

Batra also criticised Khattar for reportedly asking people to take away LPG cylinders from the houses of Deputy Commissioners or MLAs if they fail to get gas connections within 48 hours.

“It seems that the CM has forgotten his maryada (dignity) as he is advising people to take law into their own hands,” he said.

People asked to apply for LPG connections

The Rohtak District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC) has asked people not having LPG connections to apply for one at their nearest gas agency. In a statement, the DFSC said the managers of the agencies had been directed to provide LPG connections to eligible residents promptly. At the Kalanaur rally, some residents had conveyed to the CM that they had not got their LPG connections.
