Water level recedes in Panipat

The district administration has shifted residents of Rahimpur Kheri village, which has been cut off from the district following the swollen Yamuna river.

The village is located on an island in the Yamuna.

The administration shifted around 80 women, children and elderly persons from Rahimpur Kheri to adjoining Mirzapur. About 15 persons refused to shift because their domestic animals are still in the village.

The river was flowing above the danger mark of 231.45 ft on Monday the evening. The danger mark is 230.65 ft. Water level started receding. Around seven-cm decline was recorded in the evening Samlakha SDM Gaurav Kumar said, “A boat with 20 life jackets has been stationed at Rahimpur Kheri village.” — TNS
