Civil Surgeon Anil Birla on Saturday appealed to residents to visit only the PGIMS or civil hospitals for swine-flu test.

Dr Birla said many residents were visiting private labs for the swine-flu test, while the reports of most of these labs are not considered valid or authentic. “Moreover, patients are required to pay for the test at private labs while it is conducted free of cost at the government facilities,” he added.

The Civil Surgeon said that the owners of the private medical centres had been asked to send the samples of the patients to the PGIMS or government-accredited centres for confirmatory tests of swine flu. — TNS
