Two arrested for Faridabad gangrape

A breakthrough was made in the gangrape case this evening as the police announced the arrest of two of the four accused of committing the crime that shocked the city on Saturday. The SUV reportedly used in the crime was also impounded.

Revealing this, a police spokesperson said teams of the crime branch swooped down on a house in Jurhera village of Bharatpur district in Rajasthan today and nabbed two of the three main accused who were hiding there.

Those arrested were identified as Sanjeev, alias Sanju, a resident of Punhana in Nuh district, and Arshad, a resident of Sihari-Jamalgarh in Gurugram district. The Scorpio reportedly used while committing the crime was also recovered from their possession. The third main accused, who was yet to be identified, was likely to be arrested soon, said the police official. He said the police were also looking out for the fourth accused, who was driving the SUV at the time the three accused gangraped the victim in the moving vehicle on Saturday night.

The 23-year-old victim was abducted around 6:30 pm on January 13 while she was waiting for local transport at the busy Old Faridabad Chowk on National Highway-2 to go home in Sector-4 after work. She was employed with a private concern with its office in Sector 16 here.

The victim was dropped at a petrol pump in Seekri village of the Ballabgarh subdivision around 9:30 pm, from where she informed her kin about the incident.
