Congress MLA from Tigaon Lalit Nagar registered his protest over the alleged discrimination in development works in the meeting of District Development Committee today, which was chaired by Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma.

Nagar who threatened to raise the issue in the State Assembly also took up the matter in the meeting held in the MCF auditorium today.

He claimed no development project or scheme for civic amenities had either been taken up or completed in the past several months and this had resulted in resentment among the residents.

Blaming the authorities, he said he was amazed at the non-cooperative attitude of the authorities, who he claimed had left his constituency totally sidelined in matter of development, which was an “insult to the people,” who had elected him as a legislator in the present government.

Claiming that his attending the meeting was perhaps meaningless in view of the discrimination, he said he decided to take part just to raise his voice and protest against the biased and discriminatory approach so far. No road or street in his constituency was left intact; he added the condition of civic amenities including water, sewerage and streetlights had reached a pathetic state due to poor repair work.

Pacifying him, Ram Bilas Sharma assured Nagar that he would look into his complaints to resolve the problems. Earlier Sharma revealed that Rs 473.54 lakh out of the a grant of Rs 709.56 lakh had been spent on various development works in the district without any discrimination so far under the district plan during the past 10 months. He said Rs 1136.79 lakh had also been approved for various works under the plan for the present financial period of 2015-16.

Local MP Kishan Pal Gurjar, Seema Trikha, Vipul Goel, Mool Chand Sharma, Tek Chand Sharma and Nagender Bhadana, (all MLA’s) attended the meeting.
