Three held with 360-kg poppy husk

KARNAL: Acting on a tip-off, detective staff of the local police on Tuesday arrested three persons and recovered 360-kg poppy husk worth Rs 11 lakh from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, detective staff of the local police on Tuesday arrested three persons and recovered 360-kg poppy husk worth Rs 11 lakh from their possession.

According to information, the accused had brought poppy husk from MP and was to be sold in UP and Kaithal. Three members of the gang are still absconding.

Addressing mediapersons, the SP said the accused had been identified as Balraj, Singara and Dilbag. Three of their accomplices, Gurdyal, Vikram and Sukha Singh, were still at large

He said the trio had been booked under the NDPS Act.

To a query, the SP denied that the contraband was to be supplied in any area of the Karnal Municipal Corporation where elections are scheduled for December 16.
