STF arrests wanted criminal in Noida

The Special Task Force (STF) of the Haryana Police arrested a wanted criminal, carrying a reward of Rs1.5 lakh on his head, from Noida in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

A police spokesperson said the criminal has been identified as Pardeep Lohar, alias Kala, a resident of Badala in Hisar.

Lohar, absconding since 2017, was allegedly involved in several cases of crime, including murder, dacoity, loot and extortion, he said, adding 24 cases were registered against him.

Director General of Police BS Sandhu congratulated the STF chief and IG Saurabh Singh, STF DIG Sateesh Balan and their team for intensifying efforts to crackdown on wanted criminals in the state.

“For the past 15 days, our teams were following Lohar,” Balan said.

An STF team got information that Lohar, a parole jumper, was in Noida and had intention to commit a crime. The team, led by two Inspectors, went to Noida and nabbed him from Sector 23, the spokesperson said.

Lohar had allegedly shot dead his accomplice Pradeep Jamwadi and his mother in 2017, following which a case was registered against him at Civil Lines Police Station in Hisar, he said.

“Lohar started working with the Jamwadi gang. He took over the gang after Jamwadi’s arrest,” Balan said.

The police said he used to create panic among people through social media.
