Chandigarh, July 21

The state government has approved a proposal for insuring 10 lakh animals under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Samoohik Pashudhan Beema Yojana during 2019-20.

A state-level executive committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Keshni Anand Arora regarding the approval of the annual action plan 2019-20 for funding under the National Livestock Mission here on Friday.

The scheme will be implemented in all districts of the state as an economic security measure for livestock farmers. The Haryana Livestock Development Board is the implementing agency.

The total outlay of the scheme will be Rs71.79 crore, out of which the Central Government will bear Rs24 crore.

The beneficiary has to pay just Rs100 as premium for every large animal and Rs25 for every small animal such as sheep, goat and pig for a year.

A beneficiary can insure a maximum of five large animals for Rs100 each and 50 small animals for Rs25 each. In case of Scheduled Caste beneficiaries, the insurance of their livestock will be free for all their animals. — TNS
