Ambala, February 8

The stand-off between the INLD and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) over the ownership of the office here continued today. For the past several years, the INLD has carrying its activities from the Sector 8 office, named Tau Devi Lal Bhawan.

On paper, Ajay Chautala's loyalist Jagbir Singh is the owner of the property.

He said: “First, I want my property to be vacated and then I will decide to whom I will give it. I have given the property to Ajay Chautala. No one should have any objection with my decision of getting my property vacated.”

Jagbir, who is Ajay’s driver, is with the JJP.

State JJP spokesperson Vivek Choudhery said, “In 2010, my father had got the property registered in the name of Jagbir. But in the records, it is still in the name of my father. The INLD must furnish evidence in support of its claims.”

District INLD chief Sheeshpal Jandheri said, “The office was constructed by the INLD after collecting funds from party workers. Its possession has been with the INLD. JJP leaders have been trying to encroach upon the property. If the property belongs to them, they can send us a legal notice.”

DSP Ajit Kumar said “The registry of the property is in the name of Jagbir Singh, but the mutation was not done. The statements of both parties have been recorded. Further action will be taken accordingly.”
