Social security pension hiked

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has enhanced the social security pension for the people of the state by Rs 200 per month.

The Haryana Government has enhanced the social security pension for the people of the state by Rs 200 per month.

While giving this information, Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu said as per the instructions of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar all social security pensions had been enhanced by Rs 200 per month. This enhancement would be effective from November, 2018. With the increase, beneficiaries under all social security pensions schemes would get a benefit of Rs 207 crore annually.

The Finance Minister said the present government was working towards fulfilling its promises made to the people. In this series, by enhancing the elderly pension to Rs 2,000 per month, the present government had fulfilled a big promise. So far, these categories were getting monthly pension of Rs 1,800. He said from November 1, widow and destitute women pension, disability pension, ladli social security allowance, dwarf allowance and eunuchs allowance had also been increased from Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,000. He said from now, the destitute children would get Rs 1,100 instead of Rs 900 and children with disability who were not able to attend school would get Rs1,400 instead of Rs1,200 earlier.

Capt Abhimanyu said at present, there were a total of 15,13,602 beneficiaries of old age pension, 6,73,629 beneficiaries of widow and destitute women pension and 1,53,789 beneficiaries of disability pension scheme in Haryana. Similarly, the beneficiaries under the Ladli Social Security allowance were 33,907 and 2,11,403 under the destitute children allowance.
