Smog: 37 vehicles pile up in Panipat

PANIPAT: A total of 37 vehicles involved in three pile-ups on the NH-1 in the Samalkha area of the district due to smog today. No casualty was reported in any accident. At least 14 persons received minor injuries in the accidents. There was a traffic jam on the NH-1. The police had to work hard to bring traffic movement back to normal.

A total of 37 vehicles involved in three pile-ups on the NH-1 in the Samalkha area of the district due to smog today. No casualty was reported in any accident.

At least 14 persons received minor injuries in the accidents. There was a traffic jam on the NH-1. The police had to work hard to bring traffic movement back to normal.

According to the police, a loaded truck was taking a U-turn near Jhattipur village in the Samalkha area around 8 am when a mini-bus carrying a marriage party on way to Chandigarh collided with it.

Around 10 passengers and the driver were injured. A car hit the mini-bus and occupants of the car got injuries. A total of 17 vehicles were involved in the pile-up.

In another incident near the Lapro factory, 14 vehicles were involved in a pile-up. Three persons received injuries in the accident and were admitted to local hospitals.

In the third incident, six vehicles collided with each other near Karhans village. The pile-ups took place in the morning due to poor visibility.

The vehicles involved in the accidents were removed immediately to regulate traffic, said Inspector Naveen Sindhu, Samalkha SHO.
