SIT to investigate Panipat schoolgirl molestation

Deputy Commissioner Chander Shekhar Khare today constituted a six-member special investigation team (SIT) to inquire the incident of molestation of a nine-year-old student in the toilet of The Millennium school. The SIT was directed to submit its report by September 27.

SDM Vivek Chaudhry would lead the SIT with Suman Bhankhar, MC Joint Commissioner; Rajpal Singh, Deputy DEO; Jagdeep Duhan, DSP (HQ); Vidyawati, DSP (Women); and Nidhi Gupta, District Child Protection Officer, as its members.

The school would remain closed till September 27. The entry of the principal on the school premises was banned till further orders.

The principal and members of the school management did not arrive for a meeting called by Jyoti Bainda, Chairperson of the Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

She had called the meeting for today. Notices to attend the meeting had been served on the school management, officials of the district administration and members of the parents’ association which was constituted yesterday.

“All of us were here for the meeting on the issue of molestation of a girl student on the school premises. We heard all points and suggestions by members of the parents’ association,” she said.

“A notice has been served on the school management for the meeting, but its members and the school principal did not arrive for the meeting. The administration kept waiting for them for more than two and a half hours, but they did not even intimate us,” she said. “I have given my recommendations. Women’s police station SHO Kavita will issue a notice to the chairman, directors and members of the school management to appear at the police station. The principal’s entry on the school premises has been banned till further orders,” she stated.

ASI suspended over 4-year-old’s murder

SP Rahul Sharma today suspended ASI Dharambeer for allegedly demanding money from the parents of the four-year-old girl who was found murdered here yesterday.

Jyoti Bainda, Chairperson of the Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights visited the victim’s home to meet her parents. She sought a detailed police inquiry report.

The body was handed over to relatives after postmortem at the PGIMS in Rohtak. The postmortem report would be received tomorrow, said the SP. The ASI was sent to the Police Lines, he added.
