Saffron party president Amit Shah stepped up attack on Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday, the final day of the campaigning ahead of the polling on May 12, while raking up Rahul’s allegedly soft approach towards terrorism for fear of losing the vote bank.

The BJP president said that while the entire country was taking pride in the Balakot air strikes, “Rahul baba and company went into a sulk”. “I failed to understand why they were in a bad mood. I wanted to ask whether they had lost their cousins in the airstrikes. Rahul baba, you can continue to say ILU, ILU (I Love You) to terrorists but the Modi government will not allow any terrorist activity on the Indian land,” Shah declared.

The BJP chief alleged that Rahul and his ilk were unhappy with the airstrikes because the foundations of their vote bank had eroded in the wake of the Modi strike. “The elections will come and go but the BJP will never compromise on the issue of national security”.

He said the BJP would remove Article 370 from Kashmir and would ensure implementation of the National Registration of Citizens (NRC) to identify and evict the illegal migrants in the country. He said the entire country was chanting “Modi, Modi” and urged people to vote in the name of Narendra Modi and not on any other issue, including development.

Launching an attack on former CMBhupinder Singh Hooda and Chautalas, Shah stated that Hooda had given away land to the “damaad of Delhi Darbar” during the Congress regime in the centre and Haryana.

Protesters stopped on way to PM rally

Rohtak: The police did not allow members of the Mission Ekta Samiti carrying black flags to proceed towards the venue of the PM’s rally here on Friday. Resentment prevails among members of the SCs for failing to arrest those who vandalised a statue of BR Ambedkar on February 14, 2016,” said Kanta Aalharia, samiti state chief. tns
