AMBALA: The services of 235 NHM employees, including 90 ambulance drivers, working here were terminated on Friday as they failed to join duty.

The services of 235 NHM employees, including 90 ambulance drivers, working here were terminated on Friday as they failed to join duty. Of the 552 NHM employees in Ambala, 271 were on strike on Friday.

Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Sangeeta said “On the directions from the higher authorities, termination letters were issued today to agitating NHM employees who failed to resume duty. A couple of employees joined back.”

Three employees were terminated on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the National Health Mission (NHM) Employees’ Association has claimed that about 2,000 employees have been sacked since February 5, when they went on strike. The strike was to end on Friday, but the association decided to extend it to Monday. — TNS
