Karnal: The department of English at KVA DAV College for Women organised a two-day international seminar on 'Shakespeare's Women — Glowing or Dwindling’, which concluded on Saturday. It was attended by 94 delegates, scholars and research students and 10 faculty members. Chief guest Prof Abhai Maurya, former Vice Chancellor, English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, lit the lamp and spoke at length on the lofty features of Juliet's character in Romeo and Juliet. Prof Bhim S Dahiya, former Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University, talked about how Shakespeare, without violating the historical narrative, managed to mix the universal truth with history. TNS
